The Weekend Was Lit!

Love showed up today...

It tasted like red velvet

and a future mac n’ cheese indulgence

burned bright in old hickory logs

paraded by with treat deliveries

was planted in succulent gardens

hidden under welcome mat

and in s n a i l m a i l-box

It flooded my wall

filled my inbox and texts with kind words

and all sorts of clues that

even though we can’t be together

we’re not

so

far

apart

(Pandemic birthdays…Sometimes,

it can’t be what you want it to be

or what you’d hoped it might be.

But, even then, we can still find ways

to let it be.)
